FAQ > Your Fitness Program > What is the number one thing I could do today, right now to fit some fitness into my busy schedule?
There are all sorts of things that you can do to get started right away. In fact, the American College of Sports Medicine determined through clinical studies that a person can gain similar results by exercising for ten (10) minutes three (3) times a day as a person who does thirty (30) minutes of continuous exercise. This is very exciting news from my perspective, as a fitness specialist who specializes in working with very busy clients.
We all lead very busy lives and this information allows us to be successful by breaking our workouts up throughout the day to receive the same benefits as carving an hour to two hours out of our day to workout.
Here are a few easy-to-implement ideas to get you started:
- Set a timer to remind you to get up and move around every couple of hours.
- Walk up a flight of stairs.
- Do ‘sit and stands' at your desk for one minute (to do a sit and stand - stand up and sit down in your chair).
- Find a parking place that is as far from where you are going as possible.
- Find a buddy to walk with in the morning, during lunch, or after work. There are many people who want to start moving but really want a buddy to help make it more fun.
